Mark Fritz graduated from Maine Township High School South in June, 1985. He was the salutatorian and a Maine Scholar.
He attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering in December 1987. He was a James Scholar in Engineering and was a member of the engineering honor societies Eta Kappa Nu and Tau Beta Pi. He was on the dean's list in all 5 semesters he was an undergraduate and won the undergraduate mathematics competition in 1987.
He stayed in Champaign for graduate school and earned an M.S. in Mathematics in August 1989. He was given the top teacher award as a graduate student. He then worked for his father, Dr. Karl Fritz, for 2 years before starting medical school.
He attended medical school at Northwestern University starting in August 1991. While there, he was inducted in the Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society. He graduated with honors in June 1995.
